2012 Fisker Karma Price, Review

2012 Fisker Karma Price, Review, Specs, what car reviews, Luxury cars are everybody’s dream. And since now we are all concerned about our dying planet, we all need to do our bit to save what we have. Reduction of pollution can be done on a large scale by electric cars. But till today, all electric cars were mostly small and looked more or less like a toy. So, not many people were interested in buying electric cars. But today, you can buy a luxury electric car. After president Obama said that he would like to see a million electric cars before the end of his presidency, inventors started to think of ways to make electric cars more popular.

The Fisker Karma is finally here. In the year 2008, Aston Martin designer Henrick Fisker, gave his designs for the Fisker karma. But the launched was supposed to happen in the year 2009. Due to financial interruptions, the launched kept on being rescheduled. After 2009, there was not much buzz about this car. But finally, in the year 2012, it was finally launched and now it’s in full production. Being an electric car doesn’t hold back the Fisker Karma in any way. It has a 2l direct injection technique with a turn charged 4 cylinder gasoline engines. It is a soaring end PHEV. For an electric car that is pretty good.

Also it uses about 257 horsepower, but in spite of some minor drawbacks, it is a highly efficient car. After 8 hours of battery charging it can run up to 300 miles. It did not get much acclamation due to poor marketing and people are still under the misconception that electric cars can’t be classy and luxurious. The Fisker Karma is here to change that conception so it is your turn to give this majestic electric car a chance. You will also feel less guilty as you can drive without causing any pollution.

2011 Chrsyler Sebring Price, Review & Picture

2011 Chrsyler Sebring Price, Review & Picture – New Car Reviews, Chrysler has updated the Sebring for 2011 with improved interior materials and fit and finish, including a new instrument panel cluster. Active head restraints have also been added to the Sebring. If seeking an example of how things went wrong for Chrysler while under the control of Daimler, the Sebring is a prime example. A decade ago, the Sebring convertible and the Cirrus sedan were handsome and capable cars. Following DaimlerChryslers management, the midsized cars were viciously cost cut. What’s more, the formerly esteemed design crew was passed off to Trevor Creed, an unimaginative, uncreative “yes-man.”

Now Chrysler is led by Sergio Marchionne; what is in the company’s future now? Innovation and novel designs are in the future. Chrysler has been implementing midcycle alterations for its US entry model; this is a vita segment for the car’s debut since 2007.

The Sebring is slated for a new exterior and interior design. In addition, the carmaker will be giving the car brand new dynamics. For the time being, car seekers can get the Sebring at hefty discounts, and deals are being offered on the leftover 2010 Sebring convertibles and sedans. No doubt, discounts will prove steep. For the car seeker on a shoestring budget, the soon to be outmoded Sebrings are ideal.

For the 2011 model, Chrysler smoothed out the hood strakes that were designed to become part of the brand’s “design language.” The convertible is available with a conventional soft top or a folding metal hardtop. The 2011 model Sebring benefits from a new instrument panel cluster and active head restraints. Tortoise shell accents cribbed from the 300 are available, and the convertible has been designed for optimum rear seat space.

Ride and handling for are about average for cars in this segment, though Sebring falls short in terms of refinement. You’ll find marginally acceptable levels of cowl shake in the convertible. Horsepower is 173 for the four-cylinder and 186 for the DOHC 2.7-liter V-6, which is available only in the convertible. The 3.5-liter makes 235 horsepower.

Both the sedan and convertible have advanced multi-stage airbags, electronic stability control and interior head impact protection. The convertible adds front-seat mounted side airbags, while the sedan has supplemental side curtain airbags and brake assist.

2011 Fisker Karma Price, Review

2011 Fisker Karma Price, Review & Picture – New Car Reviews, The 2011 Fisker Karma plug-in hybrid is an all-new car based on an all-new architecture. Construction of the Karma has been contracted to Valmet Automotive, which has experience building Porches. Fisker recently purchased GM’s former Wilmington, Delaware facility, and plans to produce Fisker vehicles there in the near future. Born from the imaginings of Henrik Fisker, the famed Aston Martin designer, is the 2011 Karma. This vehicle sports a dual electronic motor-powered plug-in hybrid system and Q-Drive that powers the rear wheels. This environmentally advantageous luxury car is ideal for the wealthy wanting to express their refined tastes. Competing with the Telsa, the Karma’s designer wants to funnel funding from earlier luxury cars into more reasonably priced cars.

The Karma is a non-conventional sedan sporting a lithium-ion battery so the car can get 50 mpg derived from its electric-powered engine. Once the charge is depleted the vehicle coverts to the 2.0 L four-cylinder turbocharged engine that re-powers the battery. The design stems from the Chevy Volt configuration. This vehicle covers 300 miles, uses little fuel, and emissions are radically reduced.

The Karma has a sport mode with 403 horsepower too, obtained from the Q-Drive system; this allows the car to achieve zero-to-sixty miles per hour in 5.9 seconds. The battery charges up in 6 hours time too. The sedan will be followed by a convertible: the hardtop Karma Sunset.

The Karma is a long, low and sleek sedan with coupe-like proportions. Its Cheshire Cat grille is unmistakable yet uniquely handsome and large wheels help give it a smaller feel. It is slightly larger than a Maserati GranTurismo. The Karma’s interior is an exercise in restraint, with as few controls as possible while still offering an in-dash navigation and entertainment system. It is likewise luxuriously appointed and wrapped in leather, though final specs haven’t been revealed yet.

Fisker claims a peak 403 horsepower from its Q-Drive powertrain setup in the Karma, and when Sport mode is engaged, Fisker claims a 0-to-60 time of 5.9 seconds, and says the battery can be charged in as little as six hours depending on the connection. An energy-saving Stealth mode is the powertrain’s default setting and limits performance in order to optimize efficiency. Power comes from a lithium-Ion battery pack that can deliver 180 kW of peak electric power. A 260 horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine acts as an electrical generator when the battery is depleted after about 50 miles. Specific safety details haven’t been announced yet, but per Federal regulations, the Karma will offer at minimum driver and passenger front airbags and electronic stability control.

Bodystyles: Sedan
Engines: Dual electric rear motors, 2.0L turbocharged I-4 (ICE)/generator combination
Transmissions: Single-speed reduction gearbox

2011 Fiat 500 Twinair Car

2011 Fiat 500 Twinair Car, what car reviews, Introduction of this product, which makes you so impressed, the Fiat 500 TwinAir is a fascinating prospect. This is where Fiat kitsch restatement of its iconic 1950car near elevates to a new level of 21st century relevance. The accelerator pedal is rubbery and imprecise, but the column mounted stick is fun to hold and bullying. It feels like driving an old car, but in a good way. Top speed of the Fiat 500 TwinAir stands at 107 mph and 0-62mph takes 11sec.But we would say that is like you’re a watch to be water resistant to 50 meters.

TwinAir the engine tested here, according to Fiat, “the greenest petrol in the world ‘, but it has no batteries, EV deceit or hybrid. It’s just a highly efficient, low friction, lightweight 875cc two-cylinder petrol engine and a turbo. The car is a function of the gearbox – a five-speed manual with very specific ratios. The first two gears are incredibly short, but you have to use all the time to maintain momentum, even resorting to the first to uncover a roundabout. But the third is beautiful long legs, and you can do just about every city driving without stirring up further. A cruise on a 70 mph dual carriageway feels comfortable, but a slight slope, you reach for the quarter.

The new Fiat 500 Cabrio introduces American customers to open-air driving excitement with beautiful Italian styling, timeless functionality, efficient design and innovative technology. The new 2012 Fiat 500c features a premium dual-layer power-operated cloth top that is designed to deliver all-season driving pleasure with the top up or down. 2011 Fisker Karma Price Review Picture

2011 Fisker Karma Price Review Picture, what car reviews, The 2011 Fisker Karma is a once an exotic sports car, a four-door and a plug-in hybrid. The brainchild of Henrik Fisker, Aston Martin and a veteran of BMW, was developed by Karma Fisker Automotive in Irvine, California, and is assembled in Finland. He once Karma is a plug-in hybrid of pure-series configuration. The 20-kWh lithium battery Nanophosphate from A123 can be placed on a standard 110-volt home track, what today is called Level 1 load. The batteries are the lower 10-15 percent of its maximum capacity. From this point, a Level 1 refill lasts 10-12 hours, a 220-volt level 2, about half of our time. Fiskerfeels the capacity to recharge at night is both a clear need and is also the norm.

The driver also has the option to turn a steering wheel paddle on the left in Sport mode. This allows the gasoline engine at higher revs make the calibrations, producing more power. It encourages the generator to a higher output and brings the battery at least 50 percent state of charge. Even with a dead battery, Sport mode does more than just to maintain progress. The car’s full capabilities, 0-60 in a reported 5.9 seconds, top speed of 125 mph unavailable. By contrast, in stealth mode, use only batteries, extends to 7.9 sec 0-60 time. 2011 Ferrari 599 SA Aperta Spec Price Review

The 2011 Ferrari 599 SA Aperta is a special model in celebration of Pininfarina’s 80th anniversary and is limited to just 80 examples—all of which are already spoken for. The SA nomenclature pays homage to Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina, well known for designing some of Ferrari’s most successful road-going cars.

The SA Aperta is a true roadster, allowing 599 owners to bask in the V-12’s signature engine note in a whole new manner. A more raked windshield and two aerodynamic fins behind either passenger and integrated into the two roll-bars (which outline the two passenger seats) are some of the car’s standout features compared to the fixed-roof car. A light soft top is included as a last resort if the weather gets bad. To keep performance on par with the rest of the 599 lineup, the chassis was designed to be as stiff as the closed berlinetta without adding a ton of weight. The car will most likely sit as low as the current GTO, which sits 0.4 inches lower than the 599 GTB equipped with the HGTE package, which sits 0.4 inches lower than a stock 599 GTB.

The 661-hp engine beneath its hood and Ferrari’s advanced technology will ensure the 599 SA Aperta delivers performance like no other open-top Ferrari vehicle. Ferrari should be releasing more details on the 599 SA Aperta very soon.

2012 Ferarri 458 Italia Price, Reviews, Specs

2012 Ferarri 458 Italia, what car reviews, The big news for the Ferrari faithful for 2012 is the addition of the 458 Spider to the lineup. Unlike its predecessors, Ferrari has ditched the fabric convertible mechanism for a superamerica flip top. Where the Superamerica’s transparent roof flipped over and atop the rear lid, the 458 Spider’s small rear glass and bulk of the roof separate three quarters of the way into the roof, before both stack and flip under a raised tonneau cover. Ferrari says its patented design keeps the folded roof from intruding into rear engine compartment or cabin area and even leaves room for a small luggage bench behind the two chairs.

Made entirely from aluminum, the 458 Spider’s top apparatus weighs 55 pounds less than a traditional soft-top and opens and closes in a fast-for-a-hardtop 14 seconds. Altogether, Ferrari says the 458 Spider (it dropped the Italia in all the convertible’s press materials) is 111 pounds heavier than the coupe for a dry weight of 3,153 pounds; we anticipate its curb weight to be around 3,400 pounds. Ferrari says it will run zero-to-62 mph in 3.5 seconds and top out at more than 198 mph, a modest increase of 0.1 of a second and decrease of four miles per hour compared to the coupe.

The new rear cover features two large and six smaller intakes feeding the engine and cooling the radiators for the clutch and gearbox oil. Air is diverted inward by two large roll hoops behind and on either side of the passengers’ chairs. The visuals provided by the intake vents and buttresses, especially from an angle above the car, are nothing short of mesmerizing. The rest of the Pininfarina-penned coupe’s aerodynamically sculpted lines and compact shape are retained. The only item we will miss is the transparent rear window with easy visual access to the 4.5-liter V-8 engine.

Like the coupe, and an often-unmentioned aspect of the 458 italia, the car’s screaming engine normally creates 557 hp and only makes the full 562 when the little deformable flaps in the front intakes are flattened at very high speeds. The V-8 features direct fuel injection for less fuel consumption and emissions while improving performance. Despite its high-revving nature, the power plant puts out 80 percent of its 398 lb-ft of torque at 3,250 rpm. The coupe’s traditional flat-plane racing crankshaft and triple exhaust parlay with the 9,000-rpm redline to produce a mechanical aria that is as patriotic sounding to Italian car lovers as the car’s name. Ferrari says it tweaked the 458 Spider’s exhaust note further for even more ear splendor within the cabin.

2011 Ferrari 458 Spider Reviews

Ferrari car manufacturers ready to return to innovate, the manufacturer from Maranello, Italy is ready to give birth Ferrari 458 Spider. This brand-new car will be born in September.

Exotic sports car will be born at the Frankfurt Auto Show and the show is actually a convertible version of the 458 Italian but claimed to have a sexier look.

Birth of a Ferrari 458 Spider will have a hard-top that can be folded and ready to shift the 458 Italian soft-top version.

For strength, 458 Spider will likely still have the power to drive 570 horsepower 400 lb-ft of torque from a capacity of 4.5 liters V8 engine that is hidden on his body.

And to strengthen these crazy machines, in 458 Italian Ferrari was supported by the transmission of the seven-speed dual clutch gearbox rear wheel that can make this car accelerates from 0-100 km per hour in just 3.4 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of up to 325 miles per hour.

But for the 458 Spider despite having the same spec engine seems to be slower considering this car requires a folding roof system and reinforced chassis for it that will ultimately make this car so the weight is heavier than his brother did.

But if you want a more powerful, please be patient. Because Ferrari is reportedly testing a machine they called the F70. This car is prepared as the successor to the Ferrari Enzo.

F70 car is rumored to have a V8 engine with twin-turbo that has the power to 700 horsepower. While his version of the V12 is likely to have more power 50-100 horsepower from its V8 version. In addition, Ferrari reportedly also preparing a replacement 599 GTB Fiorano.

While in 2013, Ferrari will likely launch the latest version (facelift) from California and some news that said that that year would also give birth Ferrari 458 Scuderia, sebauh car faster than 458 Italian and will have some elements taken from car 458 Challenge racing.

Ford Introduces Edge – saving Door Protector

Ford Introduces Edge – saving Door Protector, what car reviews, When we opened the car door sometimes forget if there is a car next to us. As a result the outskirts of our car door or car body become scratched. Of course we do not want this to happen to our cars right?

It was taken by the car manufacturer Ford. Ford also developed a feature called Door Edge Protector.

“Ford’s new Door Edge Protector is an excellent innovation for preventing these annoying dents and scratches. Any system that can reduce the risk of damage to your own or someone else’s vehicle is worthy of recognition, but one that operates so effectively without affecting the looks or performance is particularly noteworthy.”

The mechanism is fairly simple tool, the rubber is going to move out along the 15 cm and moves out seconds when the door opened.

Rubber or buffer directly over the door edges to prevent damage to car paint. Meanwhile, when the door is closed, the tool retracts instantly within 60 milliseconds.

Ford will be rolling out the device on the Ford Focus from January 2012. And even if you aren’t in the market for a new car, you can always take advantage by parking next to a new Focus next time you’re at a local car park – as the Edge Protector will protect your paint work too. The idea is to reduce the number of expensive dents and scratches that modern motorists have to suffer.

The Edge Protector pops in and out almost instantaneously, so you can still slam your car door shut without worry of catching it. Ford claims it should be good for thousands of uses, and the exterior rubber part can simply be unclipped and replaced by the owner if need be. The system is entirely mechanical, tied into the door hinge we presume, so there’s no electronic motors to malfunction. Ford claims these features to protect the 90 percent damage to the paint on the front door and 85 percent on the back door.

“Feature Door Edge Protector will be one of the features that we think will make the consumer say ‘Why do not people think about this early”.

Research conducted on Ford’s behalf suggests that 57% of respondents in the Midlands, 54% of respondents in the South and 49% of respondents in the North have experienced door damage of the kind the Door Edge Protector is designed to prevent.

Some of the other includes in the car are a Thermal management system for effective warm up, an electronic steering for smooth navigation and a low friction engine for sustained performance.

The car is equipped with a 5 speed manual transmission and has a very good pick up. The dashboard is very well lit and it provides the driver with all the necessary information that is required while enjoying a comfortable ride. The interiors are absolutely stunning and plush with very comfortably leather seats that not only look elegant but also provide a very comfortable ride. The Ford Focus Econetic has ample leg space for its class which means that passengers don’t have to crouch and they can have a comfortable long distance ride as well. The boot is also spacious enabling a family to pack enough luggages for a short trip or a vacation.

Ford Focus Econetic Specs :

Ford has brought in a heap of powertrain changes, chief among them a stop-start system which automatically kills the engine when its idling and switches it back on as the driver reengages the clutch. This technology is nothing new but it makes a big impact on a car whose 107bhp 1.6-litre Duratorq diesel engine is already one of the most fuel-efficient on the market.

The claimed fuel economy figure – 74.2 mpg to be precise – is impressive, but the Econetic’s CO2 emissions are incredible, breaking below the 100g/km barrier for the first time in the Focus’ history. This is an astonishing achievement for a car of this size, and one that makes this Focus Econetic exempt from vehicle tax and puts it in the lowest benefit-in-kind bracket possible for company car users.

2012 Mustang GT Review

2012 Mustang GT Review, Price, Specs, what car reviews, The 2012 Ford Mustang ranks 1 out of 8 affordable sport car. This ranking is based on our analysis of 13 published reviews and test drives of the Ford Mustang, and our analysis of reliability and safety data.
The 2012 Ford Mustang continues to garner winning reviews for its performance and fuel economy, but gets critiqued for its cramped back seat and questionable interior quality in base models.

From a performance standpoint, it’s hard to go wrong with the 2012 Ford Mustang. Consumers guide writes, “Any Mustang offers an attractive blend of performance, swagger, value, and surprising usability.”

Most other critics also agree that with the Mustang, you get a lot for your money. A new V6 was introduced on the 2011 model, which not only offered substantially more power, but also excellent fuel economy. While the Mustang may not be the most agile when compared with smaller affordable sport cars like the mazda miata, it’s nimbler than competing muscle cars like the chevrolet camaro and Dodge challengers.

However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for improvement. Although higher trim levels have decent interior quality, reviewers frequently note that base models make liberal use of exposed hard plastics. Many recommend opting for the premium trim, which corrects these issues, albeit at a higher price.
The mustang performance is good, with a nibbling handling, ample power and good fuel economy, test driver say tha the 2012 mustang GT is a front runner in the affordable sport car pack.

2012 Mustang GT specs

The mustang exterior is good too, its available as a couple and comfortable, reviewers say that the 2012 Ford Mustang looks so good that it’s become commonplace.

The mustang interior is good too, The 2012 Ford Mustang has a cabin that reviewers like, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for improvement. The base model’s interior lacks the quality found on upper trims, and like many competing affordable sport car the Mustang’s back seat isn’t the most inviting place to be.

The mustang safety is exellent, The federal goverment has only performed rollover tests on the 2012 Ford Mustang. However, both coupe and convertible models earned top scores of five out of five stars for their ability to prevent a rollover. While the insurance institutes for higway has yet to test the 2012 Mustang, it has tested both the 2011 Mustang coupe and converdible, coupes and convertibles both earn top scores of “Good” in IIHS front- and rear-impact crash tests. The 2011 convertible also earned a “Good” score in side-impact tests, while the coupe received the second-highest score of “Acceptable”. No roof strength tests have been provided on either model.

Every 2012 Ford Mustang comes equipped with front airbags, front-seat side airbags, anti-lock brakes and integrated blind-spot mirrors. The 2012 Ford Mustang also features mykey, a system that’s designed to help parents promote safe driving habits in their teens. MyKey allows parents to do things like limit the top speed, disable the audio system when seatbelts are not in use and sound a persistent chime when the vehicle’s speed hits 45, 55 and 65 mph.

2012 Mustang GT price

The biggest news comes in the marketing friendly drop into the sub-$30,000 mark for the Mustang GT base coup, including the $850 destination charge. However, things aren’t all good news, as Premium trim level on both V6 and GT models sees a $200 price increase, while the GT Premium convertible saw the largest hike of $700 upward.

2012 Ford Focus Price, Review

2012 Ford Focus Price, Review, Specs, what car reviews, The Focus is Ford’s compact car that is redesigned for 2012. The Focus was first introduced in 1998 in Europe and came to the U.S. for the 2000 model year. Previous versions of the Focus have received design and performance changes tailored for the U.S. market. The 2012 Focus will be sold in both 5-door hatchback and 4-door sedan versions, and under the One Ford initiative, the Focus sold in the U.S. will be the same as the Focus sold in Europe and other world markets.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options

The 2012 Ford Focus is a compact car that’s available in sedan and four-door hatchback body styles. There are four trim levels available: S, SE, SEL and Titanium.

The S model, which is only offered as a sedan, comes with 15-inch steel wheels; keyless entry; air-conditioning; power front windows; power locks and mirrors; a height-adjustable driver seat; a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel; and a four-speaker sound system with a CD player and auxiliary audio jack. Move up to the SE and you get 16-inch steel wheels, automatic headlights, front foglights, a rear spoiler (hatchback only), rear power windows, a trip computer, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls and Ford’s MyKey parental controls. The hatchback is pretty similar but gets a 60/40 split-folding seatback (versus one solid folding seatback) and a removable cargo cover.

The optional Convenience package for the Focus SE adds cruise control and map lights. The SE Sport package adds 16-inch alloy wheels, rear disc brakes, a rear spoiler (sedan), upgraded exterior and interior trim, sport seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Also optional is a six-speaker audio system bundled with Ford’s Sync cell phone and iPod interface.

The SEL model adds one-touch up/down power windows, multicolor ambient lighting and most of the SE’s optional features. Spring for the Titanium model and you get 17-inch alloy wheels, a sport-tuned suspension, upgraded exterior and interior trim, a rear spoiler (sedan), keyless ignition/entry, MyFord Touch technology with an 8-inch center touchscreen and Wi-Fi capability, and a 10-speaker Sony audio system with satellite radio and HD radio. MyFord Touch and the Sony system are optional on the SEL.

The Titanium and SEL Premium packages add rear parking sensors, automatic wipers, a six-way power driver seat, leather upholstery, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a rear armrest. The Titanium Handling package adds 18-inch wheels, an upgraded sport-tuned suspension, a full-size spare and summer tires. Optional for the SEL and Titanium is a voice-activated navigation system with real-time traffic.

Optional on all but the S is the Winter package, which adds heated front seats and heated mirrors with side marking lamps. The SEL and Titanium can be had with the Parking Technology package, which adds front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera and an automated parallel parking system. Optional only on the SE sedan is a Super Fuel Economy (SFE) package, which adds 16-inch steel wheels with aero wheel covers, low-rolling-resistance tires, rear disc brakes and a rear spoiler.

The Focus Electric (BEV) will only be available as a four-door hatchback. In terms of equipment, it’s similar to the Titanium trim model. For now, availability is limited to a few select states.

Powertrains and Performance

Under the hood, the front-wheel-drive 2012 Ford Focus has a new 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine that puts out 160 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque. Entry-level S and SE models get a five-speed manual transmission standard, while a six-speed automatic transmission that Ford has dubbed “Powershift” (technically, it’s a dual-clutch automated manual) is standard on SEL and Titanium trim levels. It is optional on the S and SE.

The Focus Electric has a 92-kilowatt electric drive motor that draws power from a 23kWh lithium-ion battery pack. (For reference, the Leaf has an 80-kW motor and a 24kWh battery.) Power is applied to the front wheels through a single-speed direct-drive transmission. Ford promises an effective range of about 100 miles between charging. But as with all electric cars, actual performance will be highly dependent on driving style and environment.

The 2012 Ford Focus gets a long list of important safety features as standard equipment, including antilock brakes (rear drums on S and SE; rear discs on others), stability control, front side airbags and side curtain airbags. The Ford Sync system, which is available on all Focus models, also now includes an emergency crash notification feature that automatically dials 911 when paired with a compatible cell phone. Ford’s MyKey system, which can be used to set certain parameters for teen drivers, is standard on every Focus except the S sedan.

Interior Design and Special Features

While the handsome exterior of this new Focus might be what initially sets the hook, it’s the total transformation of the passenger cabin that will reel you in. The interior is attractive and quiet, and the materials are best-in-class. The layout of gauges and controls is intuitive to understand in the lower trim levels, but the MyFord Touch option’s touchscreen controls can be tough to figure out at first. Even once mastered, MyFord Touch can be distracting since it requires so much attention to operate properly. Still, technologies like MyFord Touch, Sync, HD radio and the available automatic parking system set the Focus apart from the pack.

The front seats are supportive and comfortable over long distances. The rear seats offer adequate headroom, but come up a little short on legroom when compared with some of the competition. The sedan’s 13.2-cubic-foot trunk is on par for this class, but the hatchback model is still the better choice for the practically minded, with 23.8 cubic feet of space with the 60/40-split rear seats up and a generous 44.8 cubic feet with them folded down. Cargo dimensions for the Focus Electric haven’t yet been released.

Driving Impressions

The 2012 Ford Focus feels like a European car in the way it’s been tuned to provide both sharp handling and a refined ride. There’s very little body roll in corners, while the sharp, communicative steering is a revelation given that it’s electrically assisted. The 2012 Focus is a fun car to drive, especially if it’s the Titanium trim level with the Titanium Handling package.

The 2.0-liter engine isn’t as much of a standout, but it offers competitive performance and fuel economy. The five-speed manual transmission works well enough and gives the car a sportier feel, though we found ourselves wishing for a 6th gear on the highway.

The automatic has that extra gear, though buyers should note that it’s technically a dual-clutch automated manual and behaves differently from a traditional automatic, occasionally rolling slightly back on hills or being reluctant to creep forward when parking. Shift quality is also disappointing and, at times, aggravating. The transmission upshifts too quickly and is too hesitant to downshift unless the throttle pedal is mashed. Both issues likely result from Ford’s effort to maximize fuel economy.
